Your Valentine’s Day Gift – Find out what I’m bidding on
Yes, it’s February 14th again! LOVE – I love cars.
I especially love the used cars auctions in Winnipeg. Each week, Winnipeg used car dealers bid on new used car inventory at used car auctions to get the best possible used car for our customers – we’re basically replenishing our used car inventory, but also looking for good used car deals, popular but rare vehicles, and sometimes, just cars we really like, or love!
If you’re looking for a specific vehicle, you can now follow us on Twitter while we peruse the used car auction offerings and you can even watch what we’re bidding on. On Twitter we list the newest vehicles we have won at auction so you can be completely in the loop as to which used cars are coming on the lot in the next week or so.

Top tips for buying a used car in Winnipeg
The Star.com recently published a good article dealing with tips for buying a used car.
Here’s the summary.
Research your used car purchase
Shop the less popular brands of used cars
The leading brands command premium second-hand prices. Look for less popular used car models. Automakers such as Suzuki, Mitsubishi and Kia made some very good models that were undersold and overlooked.
Word of mouth
Have a budget in mind
Dealer or private sale?
Dealers are the best source for late-model used cars, since they have first dibs on lease returns and trade-ins. Private sales are a wild card: you could get a dud from a curbsider (who sells multiple vehicles posing as a private seller) or a creampuff from someone who was insulted by the dealer’s lowball offer on his/her trade-in.
Take a close look at the vehicle
Used cars are like snowflakes: no two are exactly the same, so scrutinize each one carefully.
Drive it like you own it
Rather than a five-minute spin around the block, tell your sales rep you’re going to be on the road for a good 45 minutes.
Get a history lesson
CarFax, CarProof and AutoCheck history reports recognize rebuilt or salvaged vehicles, but beware: they may not disclose collision repairs if the previous owner chose to do them without going through their insurance — and up to half of all collisions go unreported.

Government regulations and used cars in Winnipeg
Recently the government of Manitoba enacted legislation to prevent misleading and unfair business practices. This is a good thing but at our dealership, Bill McMurray Auto Centre, we have been doing it this way since we opened our doors 10 years ago!
See the details here on our Winnipeg used cars sales site, about government regulations and selling used cars in Winnipeg!
